Team Up With Sherry’s Run To Change Lives

LEBANON, TENN. – July 7, 2014 – Team: “A group of people linked in a common purpose.” We all have a “Sherry” in our lives. We are all joined by a common purpose to fight cancer and the effects it has on those we love. Sherry’s Run is giving you the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of the “Sherry’s” all around us. To make that difference, organizers of Sherry’s Run invite you to form a Team. Run or walk in honor or in memory of the “Sherry” in your life.

“All of us want to make a difference in our community, but sometimes it is hard to know how. Forming a team is an excellent way to maximize your impact!” says Ashlee Chance, Sherry’s Run Teams Committee Chair. Her team of volunteers is here to help make your team of runners/walkers more successful.

A great way to get started is the Team Captain “Kickoff” Party, slated for Tuesday, July 15 at the Sherry’s Run office (located at 110 Babb Drive, Lebanon, TN) from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. We have some very special things planned this year including food, fun and give-aways. Registration forms will be available for those who are unable to register online. We will also hand out posters and be available to answer any questions you might have about organizing your team.

Team meetings are open to anyone who is interested in forming a team for your company, family, church, and friends or in honor or memory of a loved one.

Additional team meetings are also scheduled for Tuesday, August 12, Tuesday, August 26 and Tuesday, September 9 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Sherry’s Run office. Chance, adds “Being a team captain means you are a champion for those in need in your community. It’s not only easy, but it’s a fun way to make a big difference!” You may register your team name online at www.sherrysrun.org.

Corrie Cluck

Faith, courage, optimism and a desire to help others were qualities that defined Sharon “Sherry” Patterson Whitaker. Both before and after the energetic wife and mother was diagnosed with colon cancer, the impression she made on her family, friends and community was undeniable. While her battle in the flesh was lost in 2004, the spirit she had shown throughout life continues to touch more lives every day. Because of Sherry’s Run, a 5K run/walk benefit organized in Sherry’s memory, area cancer victims and their families can make strides toward becoming cancer survivors, and researchers are a small step closer to stopping the disease for good.
