The lifeblood of the annual Sherry’s Run 5K Run/Walk event is truly in the overwhelming support from the local community. One of the best places to witness this is in the silent auction tent! “We couldn’t do this without the generous support of our local businesses,” says Sherry’s Run Board Member and Auction Committee Chair, Tammye Whitaker.

We encourage everyone who comes to the Sherry’s Run event to continue shopping local.”

Open Early: For the past couple of years, the Silent Auction tent has been opening at the event site on Friday to allow more time for bidders to check out the merchandise. So, come on out Friday, September 9 beginning at 2 p.m. and get a jump on bidding. It will continue the next morning at 7:00 am and end at 9:15 am. with close to 200 items, there is  something for everyone!  As always, there will be home decor pieces, fashion accessories, and a wide assortment of gift certificates. One very special item this year, will be the Mini Green Egg w/accessories donated by Roy Vaden Pools!

Changes In Live Auction: The Live Auction will be held at the second annual event in February called Mardi Gras at the Capitol  (formerly Low Country Boil). Please like our page on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for more information as this exciting event approaches!

Faith, courage, optimism and a desire to help others were qualities that defined Sharon “Sherry” Patterson Whitaker. Both before and after the energetic wife and mother was diagnosed with colon cancer, the impression she made on her family, friends and community was undeniable. While her battle in the flesh was lost in 2004, the spirit she had shown throughout life continues to touch more lives every day. Because of Sherry’s Run, a 5K run/walk benefit organized in Sherry’s memory, area cancer victims and their families can make strides toward becoming cancer survivors, and researchers are a small step closer to stopping the disease for good.
