19th Annual Sherry's Run 5K Held In Memory of Bob Lowe

Bob Lowe: Faith & Hope

Everyone is given different abilities in life. Some people are born to lead, others to follow, and some to give. Bob Lowe was blessed with many great attributes, but spreading the love of Jesus Christ and giving to his community were two of his best. Bob was a Lebanon local, he graduated from Castle Heights, attended Cumberland University, and then started his own travel agency which he successfully ran for 37 years. He was a man that you could always depend on, in any situation.

The doors were always open at the Lowe residence. Bob and his wife for 35 years, Shirley, loved being involved with their children’s schools and sports and for several years they opened their home for gatherings and cookouts. Bob was a dedicated advocate for Fellowship of Christian Athletes and they both supported several local schools through boosters and volunteering. He also had a huge heart for his Sunday school class that he loved to teach. Most people would agree that Bob was a pillar of the Lebanon community.

In 2020, Bob and his family received the devastating news of his head and neck cancer diagnosis. Generally, head and neck cancers have a poor prognosis but that didn’t hold him back from fighting against it. With strong faith in God and a community full of support, he fought a terrible disease for 2 years. Shirley explained, “Through our faith, God gave us peace, comfort, and hope.” It is those three things that give Bob’s family and friends assurance to get through the day.

Sherry’s Hope had a special place in Bob’s heart as well. Bob was a supporter of the organization and one that they could always depend on. Gary Whitaker stated, “Bob was always ready and willing to assist in any way possible no matter what the challenge was. I could mention a problem to Bob and without hesitation, he would find a solution.” It’s difficult to find people that you can depend on in this world but Bob Lowe was one of those people. Throughout the years, Bob and the Lowe family have been enormous supporters of Sherry’s Hope, allowing the organization to better help our neighbors fight against cancer. Bob’s gracious attitude and servant leadership are to be admired. Sherry’s Hope would like to dedicate the 19th Annual Sherry’s Run In Memory of Bob Lowe and celebrate the impact he left on his beloved community.

The 19th annual Sherry’s Run 5K Run/Walk to benefit Sherry’s Hope is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. Click here to register today or join a team. Come join us as we make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer right here in our community.

Danny Stewart: A True Gift of Giving

Danny Stewart was as genuine as they come. Many say he would light up a room when he entered it with his pleasant smile, joyful personality, and true loving heart. Danny was a great mentor to so many people. With his vast intelligence, he knew how to listen with a careful ear and when to offer trustworthy advice. More importantly, were the roles he was given in life; son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, boss, role model, and friend.
