Commitment...Honor...Purpose: This is the tag line for Alphonso Ashworth's latest book entitled, "No Snow Days." It is also the mantra that drives his life and motivates him to give back to Sherry's Run.

The halls have been "un-decked" and the New Year has been rung in, but that doesn't mean the party has to stop! The 3rd annual Mardi Gras at the Capitol is a great way to give hope in 2018 and have a good time doing it.

The Spirit of Christmas is all about light and hope. Who could use a great big dose of light and hope more than a family battling cancer at the holidays? That thought is what inspired the Sherry’s Run staff, board and volunteers to host a very special Breakfast With Santa event for their patients with children.

December is the time for gift giving, sharing meals with family, and celebrating life! For Al Ashworth of Lebanon, Tennessee, December of 2016 brought a diagnosis that would change his life forever. Now, one year later he has much to celebrate, but it has been a challenging twelve months.

It was a beautiful day to celebrate hope for the thousands of walkers, runners and supporters of Sherry’s Run. The air was cool and crisp and you could just feel the energy buzzing through the crowd. Everyone there had a purpose and it was the same…to give hope to their neighbors.

You may have noticed the signs around town this year encouraging you to register for #TeamMimi, but “Mimi” is no rookie to Sherry’s Run. Denise Moore, the namesake for #TeamMimi, was involved in the earliest conversations that formed the local faith based non-profit that benefits cancer patients and their families in and around Wilson County.

The 14th annual Sherry’s Run 5K Run/Walk is slated for September 9, 2017 in Lebanon. According to Scott Jasper, Executive Board Member and Race Director, “We are able to assist hundreds of cancer patients and their families right here in this community every year. This would never be possible without the incredible support we receive from churches, businesses and individuals who believe in helping their neighbors.”

Mackey Bentley was a man of wisdom, humility and faith. His impact in the Wilson County community is immeasurable and his legacy is great!

Have you ever known a person who just made you smile? Whenever you are with them, their positive attitude just rubs off? Cindy Thorne, Sherry’s Run volunteer, is just one of those people. Her smile is contagious and her attitude infectious.

To say that Rick Stewart is an involved member of the Lebanon community would be an understatement.  He’s a business owner, long time volunteer with the Wilson County Fair Board, and he’s also a two-time cancer survivor.

Everyone around town knew him as “Killer”, but if you spent any time around Charles Tomlinson, you quickly realized he was a man with a humble and gentle spirit. With more than 40 years spent serving as a law enforcement officer, Tomlinson loved his community.

Our "team meetings" are getting a makeover and the result is Spirit Nights!

During this Easter holiday, many of us will gather with loved ones to share our favorite foods and tell stories of holidays past. Two activities most of us take for granted: eating and talking with those we love. But not so for Timmy Smith of Watertown, Tennessee. 

Time to put on your masks and beads and party for a tremendous cause! The 2nd annual Mardi Gras at the Capitol event is slated for Saturday, February 4, and promises to be a night of great music, delicious food, and unforgettable memories. But the most important thing you need to know about Mardi Gras at the Capitol is that 100% of the proceeds will stay local to help Sherry’s Run meet the needs of our neighbors battling cancer.

The highlight of the 13th annual Sherry’s Run event came after the runners had crossed the finish line and the national anthem had been sung. As thousands of supporters gathered around the stage, Executive Board Chair, Tonyia Stockton, announced an unprecedented gift from Drs. Neil Price, Mark Miller, Brett Inglis, and Elizabeth Lindsey of the Lebanon Endoscopy Center, as well as St. Thomas Gastroenterology of Lebanon. 

In the early morning of September 10, while most of Lebanon was still sleeping, hundreds of volunteers joined hands in a circle to pray for the thousands of people who would soon be joining them to support the beloved community event known as Sherry’s Run. As Scott Jasper, Race Director, prayed he remembered all of those who have fought and are currently fighting this dreaded disease: cancer. He prayed for the hundreds of patients and their families that Sherry’s Run serves each year. And, finally he offered thanks for the overwhelming support of the Wilson County community for their neighbors fighting cancer.

The 13th annual Sherry’s Run 5K Run/Walk is slated for September 10, 2016 in Lebanon.  According to Scott Jasper, Executive Board Member and Race Director, “We feel very fortunate that the support from the community for Sherry’s Run continues to grow each year.  This enables us to help those battling cancer, right here in our communities.  Last year we had over 4,000 participants at the Run.” Jasper continues, “We are making every effort for residents and businesses to plan ahead for this great event.
